SAP Commerce is an omnichannel commerce platform designed to support all standard B2B and B2C commerce processes.
The platform can be rolled out as one or many websites, but can also offer a REST API, so that all the functionality can be consumed from external systems, like Android or IOS.
History and Releases
SAP Commerce is in production since 2001. SAP acquired the platform in 2013 and integrated it into the SAP environment. The platform is growing faster than ever, following a public and stable roadmap.
Each version has an end-of-life (EOL) of two years. Until the end of life has been reached, SAP will release minor versions, correcting bugs and improving the security. When the end of life has been reached or more features are required, a major update can be done.
SAP Commerce is a web-based e-commerce platform. Customers know already how to use it and they don’t have to install anything. Only a web browser is required.
The storefront adapts it’s content to the size of the end device.
Customers can buy from every device – also from their mobile phones and tablets.
Customers will not only be able to place orders, they can also check the order status and return orders entries from the storefront.
Integrated with Solr, a well-known enterprise search engine, that allows customers to inspect the catalog using full text search queries and facets.

Simple and flexible What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) interface to manage all content, including banners and landing pages.
Manage promotions combining conditions and actions with a drag-and-drop interface. No technical skills required.
SAP Commerce allows us to get a working system very fast by using an accelerator.
An accelerator is a template of a working store that can be used to set up a new system without having to start from scratch. The most used accelerators are: Commerce B2B Accelerator, Commerce B2C Accelerator, Telco & Utilities Accelerator and Financial Services Accelerator.
Using accelerators we get a faster time to market and we can start small and grow big. Changes are always welcome – we implement them in an agile manner using SCRUM and deploy often.
